I wound up using a 155mm saddle. My friends tell me it's for my child birthing hips.
143mm here

My previous saddle (felt great, but was heavy) 150mm

My hybrid bike's saddle (145mm)

I am (like tomorrow) taking my bike to the shop to remove my integrated bars (420x110) to go to 420 bars with a 100mm stem (with +/- 6 degrees) for better bike fitting options/control. I will miss my wireless look, but my neck/back will thank me.

My question(s):
1) Can they reuse the existing bar tape or is that a one time application
2) If I am planning a bike fitting after this (last bike fit was in nov and I've changed pedals, shoes, saddle, stem and bars since then) should I have them hold off on bar tape until the fitting appointment and THEN apply it or is there no benefit there?

I can answer the tape question: It depends. I've successfully removed and reapplied Zipp Service Course tape but it has more of a grippy gel back versus a sticky adhesive. Alien Pros EVA? Fuck no, that adhesive shredded up the tape layer underneath the second I tried to pull it off.

You've got that leather look stuff on your bike, right? You might be able to salvage it depending on how cleanly it comes off. :dunno:

Yes hold off on the tape until after the fitting. I probably wouldn’t do anything until the fitting tbh.

Buy new tape. Even if it holds up it will re wrap poorly as stuff will be moved around a bit.

Realistically bar tape should be done a few times a year, and hoods replaced yearly even if you don’t crash. The difference with fresh stuff is shocking

I thought it lasted a long time but it's been a year and a half and I just noticed one hood is unraveling. Was going to tighten it back up but I might as well replace it.

Any recommendations for tape?

thank you sir, really really helpful. i also thought "i'll get used to it" but I read it's not a good thing when there is pain/numbness. could be in my head but I think I still feel it into the second day after a ride.
My newest seat HURT the first time out. Turns out it was cause I was still sore from a run (I don't run so it hurt me bad) - the next 10 rides on it have all been fine. If it hurt like 3x in a row, I'd have swapped seats back. Hope all that helped - you helped me immensely when I picked up my 2012 Colt NMs (sequential serials) - and I am indebted to you for that one. Sadly, I gifted my dad his, and he passed like 6 months later. Happy my Step mom honored our wishes and returned it to me - one day they will be split again, hopefully to my boy who has no idea what lurks in the big locked box. :big grin:

my theory here - that stupid pud controlled me for too fucking long, bout time I took charge.
ive unironically have had guys either call or come in the shop, then in a hushed voice ask, "is it normal for my dick to be numb for hours after riding?". I say no, go to the doctor then get a new seat

men are fucked

realistically it can take 500-1000km to really figure out if a seat works. What is comfortable in the first 10min might be too soft for hours on the saddle. This is why demo saddles make a ton of sense, Furthermore, the symptoms of an ill fitting saddle; ie too wide a saddle can cause aching in the pelvis region, will not manifest until the saddle has been ridden for a little while.

The same concept applies to bikes. Something that feels really smooth around the parking lot will probably feel like ass after 4h in a paceline.

Numb for hours but how about numb for minutes? This is pretty normal for me and during the ride too. My seat/sit bones are pretty comfortable though, so I’ve always just assumed this was related to the bibs

Next up - book bike fitting appt for when its done, then find a bar tape I like.

Going with my Aston Martin racing theme, sort of want black and yellow.

how come you didn't do the bike fit before the bar stem switch?

i felt like supacaz was too sticky for me. it was kind of a pain to try and wrap my bar. ended up with fiziks.

Because I bought an integrated bar/stem from a UK bike company on a frame I never stood over ever.

If I flick my road pedals they spin 4-5 times before stopping. My CX/MTB pedals only go around once. All 3 sets are ~8-10 year old XT's. Only ever removed spindle, squirted grease, put back together and wiped off the grease that comes out. Done that enough on my mtb ones that the little rubber thing doesn't stay in place anymore so I have zip ties on the axle next to it to keep it in place

Is it just time for new ones?
