You may not like the sound of this, but you need to budget at least $500 for:Don’t want to spend over $2k initially since I’m already busy with a 7 month old and lifting weights/peloton during free time, but would like to dip my toes in and possibly dive in when I have more time assuming I like it (imagine I would since I enjoy the peloton)
That’s fineYou may not like the sound of this, but you need to budget at least $500 for:
1) clothing - bibs for sure $80 absolute minimum, jerseys you can cheap out on
2) helmet
3) lights and head unit
4) shoes and pedals
Its easy to top $1k on this stuff, but $500 is doable
I'm digging your house, man. It's done! For now I'm just swapping wheels off of other bikes, but I'm really happy with the way this one turned out. Still need to do some tweaks with the saddle and bars, but I'm super stoked that I was able to get the drivetrain dialed in really easily. I spent way less time fussing with this SRAM setup vs getting Shimano dialed in. Maybe I got lucky. Gonna try to do some miles on it tomorrow if the weather cooperates.

This is the speediest, smoothest, best handling, finest performing aluminum race bike on the planet. With exceptional efficiency and superb handling, it out-performs most carbon — at an aluminum price.www.cannondale.com
Yeah I’ve been browsing Facebook marketplaceI've been really happy with my Bianchi Via Nirone 105, but if you don't need brand new, there are tons of great older rim brake bikes out there on the used market.

Try to find a used 5-10 year old carbon frame bike that has no major issues that's close to your size (dont get anything ancient from the 90s or early 00's). Use that to acclimate yourself to riding and see if you will stick with it before you go out and buy something more specific. I started riding on a 5 year old carbon fuji granfondo with 105 components that I paid $800 for and loved it, but it was a tad too small for me so my next bike was in a bigger size and I stepped up to electronic shifting.Don’t want to spend over $2k initially since I’m already busy with a 7 month old and lifting weights/peloton during free time, but would like to dip my toes in and possibly dive in when I have more time assuming I like it (imagine I would since I enjoy the peloton)
you're right of course, but sometimes you get lucky and someone is getting out of the hobby, passed away etc. and will sell their gear in bulk for pennies. I did that when I got rid of my crotch rocket to keep myself from ever getting another one lol.You may not like the sound of this, but you need to budget at least $500 for:

If Strava was a person I'd straight up punch it in the face right now. I just took the Cadex out on a shakedown ride, rode my fucking BALLS off because everything felt so goddamn good this evening and when I hit "finish" on my ride it logged it as an hour of fucking TABLE TENNIS. THE FUCK.![]()
You can get a decent aluminum gravel bike from Cannondale for just a little more.Don’t want to spend over $2k initially since I’m already busy with a 7 month old and lifting weights/peloton during free time, but would like to dip my toes in and possibly dive in when I have more time assuming I like it (imagine I would since I enjoy the peloton)
I think you can change the exercise type on the website (probably the app as well, not sure).
Damn I was dead serious about spending like half of that on my first bike 2 years ago and now I'm on my fourthDon’t want to spend over $2k initially since I’m already busy with a 7 month old and lifting weights/peloton during free time, but would like to dip my toes in and possibly dive in when I have more time assuming I like it (imagine I would since I enjoy the peloton)

Calm down there, Forrest Gump.I did but it trashed all of the metrics. So now I have an hour of ping pong on my Strava. Awesome.
