My new aero bike has fucking 46cm bars. I'm considering finding a 40 option, everything is integrated so big $ and can't find anything about expected watt savings. I would imagine that it's a pretty decent number of watts going from 46 to 40cm.
You get a bmc or something?

If the 46 fits you probably need a 2cm longer stem should you swap to a 40 to compensate for the loss in reach

My wife's "small" Canyon Endurace came with 44,, bars which I switched for 38s. I discussed this with my bro at Cannondale and there is now an industry push to put shorter cranks and narrower bars on bikes, thankfully. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I want that Momo barstem.

I run 38s on my road bike which is the right width for me, but I run 42s on my CX bike because that's what feels like home out there on single track. I do the same for my gravel bike in 42 because I ride it offroad enough.

hi folks, just wanted to pop in and say "thanks again" for the advice on saddle fitting, etc. i've been slow in responding because I was out of the country for work and haven't had a chance to ride. now that I'm back i'll ride it some more and see if either I can get used to it or swap it out for something else.

@chrislehr - tried to send you a PM but system doesn't allow me for some reason. anyways wanted to say thanks for the detailed info and also that I remembered talking to you about those Colt Gold Cup National Matches. Sorry to hear that your dad passed, but happy that you have a memento of him. I've said this before, but I'd happily trade anything in my collection for something with a family connection.

I went to a community meeting and much of the area I ride is now becoming house farm and I'm losing a major road shoulder. How do you bros handle training in places slammed with development? I wonder if I'm running out of space to do this hobby.

I'm lucky and live on the greenway system here in Raleigh and have miles and miles of safe path and rarely ever have to ride on a road.

They're replacing our main thoroughfare with a state highway ramp. Our MTB area is getting a water treatment plant. The main road cyclists take to get out of town is becoming a 6-lane elevated road.

I hate to get on the soap box again, but god damn why are people so shitty?

Yet AGAIN I got horn-blasted by another asshole last night, so I did the universal "wtf" gesture and he turned around so he could start blasting me in the face with his high beams, just for the sake of being an absolute dick.

The thing is, I'm not even doing any street riding (last time I did that it was a nightmare and another asshole literally threatened my life). I'm simply riding on a MUP that runs parallel to the street and I guess some people are so incredibly triggered just by the sight of someone on a bike that they can't help themselves.

I have had more enraged motorist incidents in the last 3 months, while not even riding on streets, than I had in CO with years of cycling on the streets.

This shit is getting really old. I miss CO, why did I ever leave you!?

About five years ago I was riding with three old guys in the middle of nowhere. A super wealthy resident guy rolled up next to us, nosed us in, and got out of the truck with a gun yelling that he was trying to protect his family.

In texas I used to carry while biking. Actually, I carried while doing most things. There are some coked up gun nuts out there and if that shit happened to me, that family would finally have been free from his nonsense.

I feel for you all with the driver aggression stuff. Portland is LOVE FUCKING LY for this stuff.

The most anti-car thing here is www.bikeportland.com - go read a bit to see what our "issues" are - but 9 out of 10 articles i read and go "yea, we have it pretty fucking good, you should stop whining" but the other side of this is "keep whining so we keep having it this good"

politically, I am starting to turn pretty anti car and anti gas/oil - there's a MAJOR train line blocks from our house that could pose a risk at any time, we never use our car, our city really doesn't need one (I can walk end to end in 45 minutes)
