I think for a horror-survival game, you get more out of it if you play with a strategy.
Im about halfway through dead space 2.
It's not scaring the shit out of me like DS1 did, but they did a great job on it.
I'm playing a little differently from the first game. Rather than play it like a COD where its like "OMG GUNZ", I'm playing with just the plasma cutter and the line gun as backup. I'm selling all the extra ammo to buy power nodes to level up my guns/rig/stasis. I figure this is probably the way I'd do it in real life - one reliable badass gun, plenty of ammo, and plenty of stasis to let me take my time.
About 7 chapters in, and the game is pretty manageable.
