Winchester Model 94 .30-30
CZ 550 6.5x55 SE
Marlin 336 > Winchester 94
A lot better action.
Q: Apples or oranges?
A: I like grapes.
I would get the CZ 550 6.5x55 SE because I don't like old fashioned lever guns
I'd get the 6.5 because I dont like .30-30 but I dont like CZ rifles either.
c. ruger 10/22
To hunt deer?
headshots all around
Wow, that's a great idea! I think I'll just hunt with the Mk II pistol, since it's lighter. Aw, crap, but it has to be centerfire to take a deer legally in Missouri. Damn!
Wow here's a better idea! Look up the definitioin of sarcasm. Damn!
seriously though? .30-30 if you must have one of those 2.
if other....maybe a .270
Uh, you first???
Why 30-30 though?
Find something in a .22 Hornet then
You have a reliable source for 6.5x55? It can be kinda hard to come by.
It usually only takes one shot to kill a deer. So after sighting it in there won't really be a need for boxes and boxes of shells. Just take something else to teh range to play around with.
i say .30-30 because pretty much same velocities and energy in a bullet that i believe expands better and is also usually slightly heavier.
i'd still rather a .270 for deer but that's not one of your options.
I'm not a big fan of traveling just to get ammo. I don't stock pile it by any means, but if I want some, I'd like to be able to get it, and a good selection of it, quickly and easily. 6.5x55 isn't really a common caliber at all, I've never seen a Wal Mart, Dicks, etc. that carries it, and I doubt alot of gun stores do. This is one of the reasons I reload.
You can't base bullet expansion on caliber
I'd go with the 6.5x55 though, it's a longer range caliber than a .30-30, and I've never personally had a need for a brush gun or the like. I've always thought it was an interesting caliber too.
I don't really like the CZ rifles though
I was hoping that the box we have now could cover sighting in and killing the deer...
There is a full box now that came with the rifle, at least two local gun shops carry it, but at quite a price ($15 -$17???) - living in the city does have some benefits. Plus http://www.outdoormarksman.com/index.php?cPath=65_63_74
Once there is enough brass, it will get reloaded.
20 rounds for $6 of 6.5x55
If the ammo it comes with is 160gr, hold onto it. When I inquired about my Krag on a gun forum, they told me my box of 20+ year old Federal 160gr was not made anymore and may be worth something to a collector.
I will probably end up shooting it anyway
FMJ though, kinda useless except for punching paper
Depends on how good you sight your rifle in. I spent $24 on a box of Federals (again, why I reload) and used about half the box just sighting in because I'm stupid. Then, while hunting, my gun ended up getting covered from the barrel to the action in mud , so I had to take the scope off to get all the shit off my gun, which required me sighting in again. By the time it was all said and done I had 7 shells to hunt with, and no stores around here carried these particular shells, not that I killed anything anyway
is it possible that you could replace the bullet with a jhp or other form of hunting bullet?
yeah but if you're going to just pull the bullets and reload the cases I'm sure you could fine brass cheaper by itself.
