I accepted a research project this semester which involves me programming a new function into a fortran 77 program that calculates the electric potential of orbitals in atoms. I have some experience with fortran 90 but none with 77. Are there any big changes in the two I should know about?

I have not used Fortran 77 extensively, but this is what I recall when taking a class that required Fortran 90 for the homework: Fortran 90 added dynamic memory allocation Fortran 90 is a free form language (ex: whitespace positioning does not matter) Fortran 90 adds some array operations that Fortran 77 doesn't have, but I don't remembe exactly what

Fortran 90 can be structured into reasonably decent procedural code... and 77 cannot be, it is all doomed to be complete shit?
