Am I a moron for thinking about getting involved with dropshipping?
What are you drop shipping?
sorry; I should have added more info:
some friends of mine have had experience with companies like Doba & DropShipAccess - after reading reviews, i'm not liking what I see.
what i'd *like* to do is possibly sell colognes / fragrances through a dropshipper to other english speaking countries
I have done it before, pain in the ass
Dropshipping is fine as long as you find a good company. Any of the "ebay dropshippers" are usually shit.
you wouldn't happen to have any good recommendations on good companies, would you?
in for an electronics dropshipper
Main online business here, secondary to my B&M business. Are you looking to be a drop shipper or drop ship products yourself?
Have fun with the cologne industry, its pretty competitive.
I'm just looking to sell products that are shipped by a reputable dropshipper
can't seem to find any though
first off. if anyone asks you to pay to sell something for them, dump em. they work with the niaive ebay crowd. best idea is to contact companies with the products you want and know you can sell. things your are confident in. find out if they will do it direct for you if if they have distributors that will do it as well.
Have you ever done any of it before or is this your first venture into e-commerce?
PM me back
I do not. sorry
Just did it for data networking cables.
i doubt the profit margins are worth the trouble.
in for more details
40-50%, just process the order.
We drop ship several types of items, but they are not core to our business model. They are really in our catalog as impulse purchases for our customers.
I am sure the profit margins differ industry to industry but a 33% margin seems quite typical for the companies I have spoken with lately. D/S can be a real pain if the supplier is disorganized, poorly managed, etc. It takes serious time to find a supplier / warehouse that you can trust. It also truly pays off to make friends with your contact there, as this can potentially deepen your discount and improve the priority of your order(s) over time.
I would be happy to continue to discuss this with ya.
anyone who allows you to drop ship is probably a shitty company. no legit, branded company will allow drop shipping, and if they do, it's only to well qualified people with retail stores who want to expand their business online.
and just like anything internet related, if you're doing it, you're doing it alongside thousands of others doing the same thing.
always remember, if you're just looking to make $500/month off of it, some indian guy is willing to work harder than you just to make $50.
like anything though... you CAN make a lot of money in ANY industry, you just have to learn learn learn, and hopefully one day become damn good/profitable.
good luck though.
pretty sure he's new to the web game lol
yuppp. whoever posted above looking for an electronics distributor... bad idea, slimmest margins out there. most competitive as well.
