actually a lot of the shit he is doing in this one does have a purpose. There is more to performance than raw strength. If you want to learn some cool shit look up "pulsing" Essentially your ability to generate speed and explosiveness greatly depends on how fast you can recruit muscle fiber and then rapidly relax it. Doing fast retarded shit like this makes you both stronger and way faster.
When throwing a ball or punching someone really fast you have an initial musle contraction to move the arm, then a relaxation through the stroke, then another pulse/contraction at the end of the movement, when you connect. So if you too try muscle the entire movement you will just be slow. The ability to relax very rapidly is what separates Micheal jordan from your average player.
My trainer has kids doing the madball throws in the gym to a timer. It's pretty hilarious.
