I'm currently getting my feet wet with an old Dell Axim running PPC v4.2 and Outlook 2000 on the desktop. I'm trying to ditch Palm for a Windows Mobile device and so far there's one big problem with the way custom contact fields are handled (or rather not handled). In Palm, the desktop app lets me custom label up to 8 fields under Contacts. Of course, all of that information is synced with the handheld. First, I need to get those custom fields transfered into Outlook which isn't going too well. But that's pointless if the mobile device can't even sync those records from Outlook. Does Windows Mobile 5 do anything about this or can Microsoft still not do something Palm did from day one? I can't be the only person wanting to define my own database fields and keep them synced.
