In a statement, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk described the “three-dimensional animal heads” in the collection as “fabulously innovative,” adding that “Kylie, Naomi and Irina’s looks celebrate the beauty of wild animals and maybe a statement against trophy hunting, in which lions and wolves are torn apart to satisfy human egotism.”

“We encourage everyone to stick with 100% cruelty-free designs that showcase human ingenuity and prevent animal suffering,”
Newkirk continued, encouraging wearers and designers to “extend this creativity to exclude sheep shorn bloody for wool and silkworms boiled alive in their cocoons.”

The creatures were a reference to Dante’s “Inferno,” which provided the broad inspiration for the spring collection.

“I didn’t want it to be literal at all: we’re not going into the nine circles of hell and meeting Satan at the end. That’s not the point. But the point was really Dante himself and this story about trial, tribulation, doubt, and that you have to experience all of that in order to get to paradise,” the designer explained, likening it to his creative process.

There are also other interesting looks that have special meanings, but the animal heads were meant to create a buzz and it worked.

As someone with dermatitis those photos make me uncomfortable looking at it. Damn I wonder what the world would be like if we didn’t waste resources like that.
