how do i do this?

i want a Y in the hot water heater line....one line will continue on to the hot water heater....the other to run an electric room heater

cant have them both on at same time obviously, so is there a switch i can buy to send power to one or the other, itll be 90% of the time on water heater, 10% on the room heater

thinking 240 30a, but not sure, and not home to see the breaker

The appliances don't have switches? Is this just to dummy proof it so you don't accidently try to run both?

doubt it was double throw. most likely just non fused cut out. :dunno:
Correct.

Still a safety throw switch.

He asked if he can throw it repeatedly - if a single throw can be thrown 10s of thousands of times without worry, I don't see why a double throw couldn't get thrown a couple times a year at his house.
