The largest disconnect is that some people think Elon is out there actually engineering and designing "all this amazing tech" when that's not even close to reality.
He's an entrepreneur (or grifter, or whatever pronoun you like) who spotted some market gaps and had the brains and capital carve out a niche, and the follow through to be successful by hiring the right people and then grinding them to a pulp for profit and game.

He didn't "make" PayPal or Tesla or SpaceX or Starling or Neural Net... He's the farthest thing from 'Tony Stark'.. but the cultists can't disassociate from fairy tales.

He literally invented turn by turn maps and wrote all the code which is how he got started. He was for a long time and maybe still is the chief engineer at spaceX, he literally designed large chunks of the early rockets himself.

He’s so involved with the details of everything, in particular Tesla, that he makes some shit worse because he demands that it run in code and systems he knows.
