Is a DAT 72 tape drive any faster than a DAT 40? Or will it just store twice as much and take twice as long to do it?

edit: if you are using dat 72 tapes

Same speed. But it depends on the drive manufacturer.

I know DLT tapes have higher speeds with larger formats.

You may get a bit of variance, but for the most part, dat drives will be the same across the board.

We don't use tapes on the enterprise. We use isolinear chips.

No maxing out an LTO4 drive at 120MB/sec via NDMP, no care!

dat 72 and dat 40 both write at 3.2MB/s, so it will take longer to write 36GB than the 20.

    T10000B crew here

GTFO phasers. I want some photon torpedoes -- them shits have warp drive, hit you before you ever seen 'em coming.

(unless you have subspace sensors. :noes:)

Ya, just when you think you can relax, some sneaky prick coming up with subspace sensors just to mess with your plans of domination.
    Beam me up, dammit.
