I want a 20" A4 with a free-float full rail, bipod, and stainless match barrel.
eh, IMHO unless you are shooting in an event/league that requires a 20", then you might as well get a longer barrel if you want real longer range performance
my view is that 16-20inch = chrome lined, 24+ = stainless
I like the way the 20" looks though
so why not get a chrome barrel then?
i shot 600 yard matches with my 20". barrel length doesn't matter as much as you think it does.
chrome lined is definitely NOT good for an accurate AR setup. ok, since you need some better advice coming at you in this thread...
4" will only affect the speed of your bullet, not the accuracy. so 24" over 20" will not make a difference in accuracy at all, it will only give your bullet a couple hundred FPS. i shot in 600 yard matches with my 20". You can get a nice stainless barrel in 20" that isn't chrome lined that will be plenty, plenty accurate. unless you plan on shooting super long ranges, the difference between a 20" and 24" is immaterial. if you want to be accurate focus more on the ammunition that you use. for 100-400 yards i liked to use 68gr black hills match HP. for 600 yards i used handloaded 82 grain match HP.
I never offered advice, I offered opinion. You and he should take it for what it is, the opnion of somebody online who you have never met. That being said, he should view your post in exactly the same light
opinions can be right depending on who gives them. i was just giving him the right information
oh, so now there is an objective 'right' barrel type/length/etc combo? Well stop the fucking presses, an objective absolute about subjective preferences.
Screw it, I don't care enough to argue this. Both of us offered subjective opinion and conclusions based on personal experience. That's all either should be taken for, no more.
