I believe they will work like any medication. For example if you have a 500mg of motrin that expired 6 months ago, yes it will work but it will not be as potent. Then again I never used expired supps only medication.

I had weight gainer that was a year old and instead of having 1000 cals per drink it only had 759.

I never understood how people end up with year old supps lying around.

There is definitely some chemical degradation of the proteins (and their amino acids) over time. Eat it. Its fine. But it will have less protein than labeled. The protein in whey powder breaks down over time and the expiration date is simply an estimate of this process.

Unless it's been exposed to moisture, in which case it might be actively harmful.

as long as it smells normal and isn't all clumped up, should be fine

expiration dates are generally underestimated by far by regulatory conditions or just playing it safe

I mean as far as meats, chicken, milk, etc. goes yeah obviously pay attention to those.

But a lot of prescription drugs, multivitamin, etc will be effective to some point for your entire lifetime, and things like protein or other supplements have a long leeway afterward also.

But if it smells or looks funky dump it

:werd: a lot of the supplements are elements that have half lives of like 300,000 years. i've never understood expiration dates on shit like zinc.

what i dont understand is how when you leave some whey in your shaker cup for a day it smells like the eternal bog of stench, but when you leave it dry it last forever without that smell
