how does moving it to the side a couple inches justify using it?
it keeps the flash *over* the lens so you're lighting up the scene evenly.
For event shooting I'm not completely convinced of the usefullness of it yet. Sometimes I don't even point my flash in the direction of the subject... I'll bounce it off a wall behind me or in the corner which the 580's head has no trouble turning to do so.
works wonders when you shoot portrait mode
click on "see it animated"
try shooting portrait mode with a 70-200 + hood with flash mounted without bracket.
Good for shooting portrait orientation so you don't have those shadows to the side.
i cant imagine how heavy a 70-200 + d70 + bracket + sb-600 would be.
not that bad
Try a 70-200 + 30D + Battery Grip + 2 Batteries + Bracket + 580ex + Turbo battery & battery cable yanking on yo flash...
Not to mention Tamrac Expedition 7 backpack strapped to your back with lenses and other heavy shit....
I do it all the time...
man up nigga!
