What kind of external hard drives are you all using?
I've been using 3 sata drives in vantec enclosures for the last couple years. Now that they're full I decided to pick up a Western Digital My Book Studio II 2TB. It came in yesterday. It looks great, quiet, has Raid 0 or Raid 1, and has Firewire 800 which is rare is many externals.
5 WD's, 3 of which are the mybooks, and 1 passport.
500gb iomega prestiege USB2.0 for Time Machine
750gb Seagate FreeAgent FW400 for photos
500gb WD Studio FW800 (just got a refurb back after RMA-ing the old one, 3 year warranty ftw) going to be used for videos
320gb WD Passport USB2.0 for general storage
250gb WD Passport USB2.0 as a second backup of photos and music
I've since moved them all into a NAS
WD my book studio 500g and 1T II edition.
3 WD 1TB mybooks and 1 passport
I need a freaking hub for my iMac.
WD My book 1TB - General Storage
WD Passport 500GB - 250GB for Time Machine, 250GB for Videos
External Enclosure 500GB SATA - Music Storage
External Enclosure 80GB SATA - Picture Storage
External Enclosure 40GB - Old files
Not enough freaking USB ports.
i need to get a second external, my 750 is full and so is my mbp's internal
I have a spare one of these if anyone is interested...
hub ftw. can't imagine not having one.
LaCie 1TB quadra...
I wanted an external with FW800...
edit: Also have a Maxtor 120GB rofl and a 320GB LaCie mini
Mostly Seagate drives. Never Maxtor or LaCie
Here are a couple of them.
Jesus christ you guys have a lot of crap to store. I do photography as a side job and still have yet to fill up my HD.
I have a 320gb passport I picked up for the AppleTV and a Maxtor 250gb external for Time Machine.
I have a 640gb 2nd drive in my desktop, but barely filled it up half way with video rips.
