I totally respect the reason why he is retiring. I've worked on professional race teams, it is a MAJOR commitment especially if you are travelling. It is an 80 hour week at a minimum, when you have back to back weekends racing is even worse.

Only reason is that he couldn't work with Hamilton anymore. No real racer would retire this young and after winning the championship something happened.

He eeked out a championship and wants to retire telling himself he's a good driver, when he's not.

Did a golden goose just land in Wehrlein's lap?

    Does Mercedes go after Button?

nico knows he'll never be able match this again - he had to be at his very peak to come close to hamilton, he doesnt think he can do it again

I've always been fair neutral/meh on Perez, but the kid definitely had some killer drives this season.

Merc should pull a Crazy Ivan and put Kyle Busch in the car.

The car also failed during qualifying 3 times it the first 5 races and resulted in Lewis starting at or near the back twice... gave Nico a 45 point lead by the 4th races. Lewis clawed his way back until the failure in Malaysia... and still almost fought back again. Car failures are what cost him the championship.

I think it'll be a surprise. Someone is going to pop in for a 1 year deal so Mercedes can have options down the road. After the one year deal Mercedes will drop them like a bad habit.

I don't expect Mercedes to pay to get vettel, Alonso, Danny, or max out of current contracts.

For them to get Alonso out of contract it would be like 30 million.
