So I checked my ERB tonight and I finally am a SPC after 3 years and 2 months in the army. Guess I'm fast tracking huh? Oh and I saw the Northern Lights for the first time since I got up here in late August!:bowdown:

Congrats....but I don't know about fast tracking. What's your MOS?

I thought Army made E4 faster than that... but what do I know. Congrats!

... now if only finance would see fit to finally fix my pay. :squint:

I went 9 months before my pay finally reflected my promotion to E4.

A friend of mine happened to mention it to the CSM while smoking outside and the problem was taken care of quickly.

Thats even slower than the slowest air force E-4 promotion! The longest it takes without prior demotion is 36 months time in service. I made E-4 nearly a year ago and I've been in a year and two months as well.

specialist isn't an NCO as far as I remember. corporal is the first NCO.
Specialist and Corporal are both E4's, a Corp is considered an NCO though. Kinda like old buc sergeants in the AF. More responsibility...same pay.

Well, since I got a field grade article 15 (there was a thread if any of you remember about that) and sarcasm doesn't translate so well to the internets I am the opposite of fast tracking. But it's still funny that even when I was a PV2 here people still jumped my section sergeant and team chief to ask me questions on tacsat.

what is the difference between a Specialist and a Corporal in the army ??

Nothing. There both e4s but they are equivelant to a PFC in our beloved corps.

Just kidding. Nothing against the Army..after working in a joint enviroment..their not so bad after all. I got promoted to Sgt in January by a 1 star Gen. because he never promoted a Marine before, So it's all good. We would all give each other shit.

in the army a corporal is an JrNCO slot, have soldiers that report directly to them and they are in a soldiers NCO Chain of command. A Specialist is not directly in charge of soldiers and is not in the NCO Chain of command.
