So I have to give a informative speech in school and I decided to do the speech on first aid kits.

Basicly the speech is going to cover

    1. what to include in a first aid kit
    2. What not to include in a first aid kit
    3. First aid kits for different climates (hot, cold, high altitude)
    4. different ways to store a first aid kit

So, im looking for info. Since most of us have a BOB I was wondering what you have in your essential first aid kits, and what you have in your not necissary but nice to have kits.

Also, what you would absolutly not include in a first aid kit.
    Thanks in advance :)

Substitute Celox for QuikClot as the latter can cause tissue damage through an exothermic reaction.

One thing to specifically exclude unless trained in it's use is a tourniquet. Misuse can lead to amputation.

Can't tell you how many times I've showed up on scene and some bystander has applied a tourniquet to a patient.

People see blood, they feel the need to cut off all circulation.

TQs are not as bad as people think..... The human limb can live without blood for hours. In surgery they apply TQs to just about any limb they are doing surgery on. The clincher is the blood needs to be drained out. So, if you put one one, exsanguinate ( get the blood out of ) the affected limb. The acidic blood that's left in the limb is what causes damage. So if a guy's hand is blown off, a TQ would be great as all that blood's going to drain out on it's own. But if it's some sort of crushing injury, and you TQ if off and that blood just sits there getting more and more acidic.. Well you get the picture.

 I'm sure the guy who tourniqeuted the 5 year old's upper arm from a simple abrasion on his forearm knew that.

Personally I'd include super glue in the kit.

If you have to ask what to put in a first aid kit, it's because you don't have enough training to USE a first aid kit. Get some.
