I dont know how to program in flash, but i dont want to be old and busted on my portfolio. Yes i know the work should speak for itself, but it helps if its progressive, no? :hsd:

I have a flash site, and so does Jcolman. Both bought from www.bludomain.com and as Jcolman said to me: 'its so easy, a caveman can do it'. Just because you don't know how to do something doesn't mean it can't be done. Just do some research, oh hairy one!

Most people here go with flash templates, squarespace or wordpress templates and I always say get something done custom. It costs more, but tier one photographers never use templates, and looking the part is most of being the part.

I can code HTML and CSS all day long. I just would like something thats easy to navigate and doesnt have much clutter. I'm probably going to end up doing HTML.

Paying for a custom site is definitely in my plans, but (I think) for people that are just starting out the money you save by getting a template might be better spent on advertising to get your name out. Then when money is coming in from what you have built, get something custom and start raising prices. That's just me though. :dunno: Showcases can be as beuatiful as can be, but if nobody sees it, it minus whale just be another tree in the forest!

Daniel...If I can make my flash site work anyone can. Bludomain makes it very easy to upload pics, add/change text/music, make or change galleries, etc.

Same here, but it looks like that's where the photography industry is heading.

Personally, I detest Flash. I avoid sites that use it. Go with Ajax if you can.

I wish flash allowed one the option of disabling hotlnking or not. I want to be able to choose whether I want a certain gallery to be allowed to be used by other people; like as free advirstiment when people use them on myspace and facebook. If it is a flash site, people just end up emailing asking me how they can use my photos.
Since they have fatty watermarks I could careless if they use them, but I am stuck with HTML
