What are some good exercises to improve my flexibility? Especially at my hips.
only stretch when warm
start with your hams
then stretch your groin out
then do your hips
first just do stand still punting kicks straight ahead with your back and legs perfectly straight. loosen up your legs with those.
then sit on your butt facing someone with your legs opened up. lock hands tightly. They will then push on the inside of your legs forcing your legs open very slowly. Relax, its suposed to hurt, and it will hurt a whole lot less if you focus and calm down your leg muscles and relax them, fighting it is what hurts.
have them do this till you reach the max and hold it for 3 minutes.
then sit on your butt in butterfly position. make your back stiff like a board. have your helper put all of their weight on your shoulders and slowly transfer some (not all) of their weight onto your knees. they should still have a lot of their weight on your shoulders, but should also be forcing your knees down further than normal.
last lay on your stomach, bring one leg forward and place under your chest or stomach with the bottom of your foot facing the oposite direction (i.e. left leg foward with the bottom of your foot facing the right, and the calf under your body). Hold your foot in place, slide your other leg back, focus on getting that other legs knee further and further away, and at the same time roll your hips towards that foot side. you should feel a nice pull in the hips, hold it when the pull in the hips starts to hurt, epeat on both legs a few times.
Stretching is really key, I'll take all the knowledge I can get. Thanks!
