I made a thread fairly recently (within the last couple months)

Too lazy to dig it up, but finding it shouldn't be too difficult

Lock it in hardcase box(otterbox) with two locks... walk it down and watch as they inspect and xray.
Put the Otterbox back in your baggage and then have them check the entire bag.
Dont just ship it separate in the small box.

I UPS it to myself at my destination since I like my gun to actually arrive at the same place I'm going.

Locked firearms cases aren't supposed to be opened, are they? Instead they're inspected at time of check-in. A lot of people exploit this by checking in a cheap starter's pistol along with their expensive camera/video gear when flying.
