I was reading through local apartment ratings and reviews and came across this. It made me laugh.
the deciding factor
before i moved into my current apartment, that's the first thing i checked..and when i move, that's another thing i'm going to be checking for.
I would probably do the same thing. :-/
A friend of mine and I have been looking to move downtown, closer to school. I always ask about cable internet first. The cool part is that most of the apartments in the area already come with it in the rent.
Yea, when I'm finding an apartment you know I'll be checking to make sure they have cable or (preferably) DSL.
Yea, I am doing the same, we found the apartment today, I'll be getting cable, I just found it funny how he had to have specifically DSL.
I find that funny as well..
I have DSL and am changing to cable when I move. . . What reason is there to HAVE to have DSL?
The ones the guy mentioned in the article are that some cable providers block ports and such. However, also in some areas DSL is a fair bit faster (and vice versa in other areas, it all depends on location).
Isn't the speed of a cable sonnection determined by the number of ppl using it at once? So in an Apartment comlex i can definantly see the advantage of DSL over cable.
Location is everything. Here in our town, cable surpases DSL quite nicely.. and in some areas, cable runs circles around DSL speeds..
..but you need to remember that the further away from the switch or CO you are when you have DSL, the slower your speed.
