Am I right in assuming this?
Models are different based upon what battery size you want thus the overall size of the sight itself, models change by the MOA such as 65 MOA / 1 MOA or just the 1 MOA, and if you want something that is night vision compatible just as a basic start.
the 557 has the ballistic dots, but other than that, I think the 512 is probably the best for most people.
I'd personally get the 516 for side controls, integrated riser and 123 batteries. Ymmv.
I used to run the 512. I liked the AA batteries. Then one day I figured out I can't hit anything out past 200 yards with them and sold it the next day. One good thing about eotechs is they hold their value. Especially if they are in short supply because the US military has them all for kicking ass in some god forsaken place.
The AA-powered models with back buttons will be too long to also fit a BUIS if you have M4 style handguards. Ask me how I know.
Go for the new _ _ 6 models, which have a built in riser to clear the handguards.
Does any of this change if its intended use is a LE patrol rifle?
There are even alternatives to the 512...
Oh right, I forgot about that.
All that sustained mortar fire one might encounter would make that valuable.
isn't the govn't having a yelling fest with L3 over bad EOtechs?
I think that was developed by Bushnell and is pretty much the same as the Bushnell HOLOsight which is a lot less.
The Bushnell holosight is a re-badged 512 minus the metal external parts. Same internal parts and manufacturing process.
i love my 512 but i never shoot out past 150 with it i can see where yar has a point on not being able to hit past 200
Love my 553.
good choice, I had a eotech fuck'em.
no aimpoint no care
