From start to finish of aquiring a fairearm in Australia Well, today 4th September 2009 I called up the NSW Police Firearms Registry to lodge my firearms license application. I am applying for a class A and B pest and vermin license. Which in short (and i mean short) i can shoot bolt action rifles, rim fire and centre fire on country properties in NSW with the permission of the land owner to rid it of pest and vermin (aka hunting). No handguns, no cal above .488 (or something like that) and no semi auto. In about a week i should receive my papers to fill in all my details and have signed by the owner of the property which i will visit the most. After that is approved i have to go a long rifle safety course which will be about 1 month from now. this will be about $100 After that is completed and approved i will receive my 5 year license for $200. by this point it will be about a month and a half from now. After a 3 month "cooling off period" i will be able to purchase my first gun. However, there will be a 3 week wait on that gun. I also have to purchase a safe that is bolted to the floor of my house. This should be fun ( ) but in about 4-5 months from now i should be posting my first gun pics. I know it's a shit system but i absolutely love Australia, well everything except the gun laws so i dont want to hear socialist liberal comments I can thanks this guys for our shit laws who went nuts with an AR: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Arthur_massacre_(Australia) cliffs: this is not the main forum, read it.
