What site is this for?
That is weird, I noticed that same referrer a few times as well. I want to think it has something to do with e-mail harvesting because I get a lot of spam e-mails with almost the same subjects "fuck her throat" "make her choke" etc etc.
I get some wierd-ass referrers too that i'm not listed on.. Definitely to do with spam, but how come they're showing up as referrers? They just crawl the web faking their referrer so people click on it in their stats? Surely they wouldn't go to that much effort just to HOPEFULLY get some clicks from webmasters looking through their referrers.
Some of mine from the last few days:
A lot of blackhat sites make outbound links to random sites to try and build credibility with Google to increase ranking.
If your stats are public, they will spam your site with refferers in order to get linked to their site
I've read some that Google will see your site as less illegit if you have links going out to some sites which are in good standing with Google (or I suppose in better standing than them; meaning every site out there--aside from the jerks that gave me some virus this morning. $50 on the software to get my laptop to finally boot up.
I've got the same problemo.
The technique involves making repeated web site requests using a fake referer url that points to the site the spammer wishes to advertise. Sites that publicize their access logs, including referer statistics, will then end up linking to the spammer's site, which will in turn be indexed by the search engines as they crawl the access logs.
This benefits the spammer because of the free link, and also gives the spammer's site improved search engine placement due to link-counting algorithms that search engines use.
how can i check if my access logs are publicized?
can you go straight to them from any computer with out putting in a username and password? If yes, then they are public.
clever. seems pretty desperate though
I suppose I'm getting free traffic then, 'cause my access logs aren't public.
I've never seen this before, nor heard of it.. & I've ran a few porn sites.
