Nice looking car.. too bad it's slow as dogshit.
do not want
Is this the same model Cruize (the eco) that was going to get 44mpg or was that an even more special xfe model?
They may yet have a car that outperforms the Cobalt SS, we'll have to wait and see.
Needs more Z20LEH
"The axle ratio on the manual-transmission model is also optimized for fuel economy, while helping the car deliver confident performance. Chevrolet estimates the Cruze Eco will deliver 0-60 mph performance of about 10 seconds with the manual transmission and 9 seconds with the six-speed automatic. "
Didn't expect the auto to be faster
Its about 10s 0-60 for the Prius, and this is a lot cheaper.
138Hp *turbocharged* wow. And 10 sec 0-60.
Guess it's good if you're a MPG fgt
Good thing about factory turbocharged cars...bolt ons + more boost = faster car although this would never be a rocketship with that size motor , it can probably be made decent.
FUCK YEAH BRO THAT SHIT IS TUNER READY
smaller turbocharged engines are fuel efficient and moderately powerful
meh. 40mpg is nice. But not that nice. My old Honda Fit would get 37mpg and didn't need a turbo to get to 60 in about 8 seconds.
It's not terrible at all. The Honda Fit is a good benchmark to shoot for. If they price it around 16k-17k.
yeah im willing to bet the cruze has significantly better interior size than the fit.
the fit's interior is HUGE actually. it's basically a box on wheels. It's booring and spartan, but it's big inside.
Not terrible, but not great either.
I'm guessing they will make an SS eventually.
looks like a step in the right direction to me . Fucking OT fails to realize that they are not shooting for a muscle car here, this is a winrar vehicle for tons of people who are looking to get from A to B in a decent, cheap, fuel efficient vehicle. I have a M3 in my garage, but I drive the corolla around all the fucking time because I love getting 33mpg average most of the time. When I want to tool around I take the M out.
The interior of the Cruze is actually a very nice place to be, IF you're in the front seat. Nice dials, good radio, good seats, good solid plastics. They actually steer quite well too if you option the nice wheel / tyre package, despite having shitty hancooks in the AU market.
The rear seat however is a bit cramped. Despite this i'm sure it'll serve it's marketed purpose (in AU at least) for young couples / new families.
It's surprising that the performance figures for the 1.4T are quoted as being faster for the automatic. Mainly because the performance in the 1.8 N/A with the 6spd Auto is so fucking slugular that GM brought out revisions for the engine and transmission software several times in AU to liven the damn thing up.
The car really needs the Z20LEH 2.0 Turbo from the Astra Turbo to sharpen things up (for the most part the suspension and brakes are Astra anyway) along with a sharper suspension package and some better fucking tyres for gods sake. Anything less would be a disappointment. Unfortunately the last time i spoke with one of the GMH senior engineers, they did a large amount of research into putting the Z20LEH into the Cruze, to the point of actually fitting one, and while the performance was best described as 'worth the effort', it wasn't viable for the amount of money it would take to do it as anything other than a skunkworks project. GM, i am dissapoint.
WOAH, WOAH, WOAH. SUBTLE M3 POST.
SUBTLE BRAG POST OUT OF NOWHERE
I'll take 0 - 60 in 5.7 seconds and 36 MPG, thanks.
Don't have to be subtle about a car that costs at this point probably 1/2 of what this Cruze will new
