Some of my favorites...
Wow! Great pictures, what gear are you shooting with?
These were all taken with a 1D3, 5D, or 5D2 and with anything from 16mm to 400mm
I always love your sports shots. Really intense.
Maybe this is a dumb question and prying too much, but all paid work for Kentucky area colleges? You got some impressive stuff!
That's a pretty fuckin rad/diverse portfolio dude.
you still in camera retail?
This has always been my favorite of your photos:
And this one makes me laugh:
Thanks. Hardly any of it was paid. Most all of it was just done for the University of Louisville for either the paper or the athletic department.
Thanks. Really means a lot to me coming from you.
Yes Im still in retail. The is just too perfect for my school schedule for me to leave. My boss works completely around my classes and there is always enough down time (except in Nov/Dec) for me to do all my homework at work. Once Im out of school and get a real job, Id like to buy some more gear and then get on with some wire services mainly just to get access to places and provide pictures. I wouldnt try to make a profession out of it.
work on cropping tighter
drop a few of these
No and no. I like them. Sorry.
Also, its not a portfolio so there is nothing to 'drop' anyways. Just pictures I have taken that I like.
you need to learn to be more critical of your own work to get up to the next level
Im sorry man but Im just not out for the 'next level' anymore. Im a few months away from being a CPA. Im happy with what I take and Im sharing it. Thanks for the comments but, at this point, I just respectfully disagree.
As do I. with the basketball players sitting on the bench, the shoes/socks are 100% needed IMO.
I won't sit here and say that some couldn't use some work, but that's the difference in how some people shoot. However, tighter crops on some? No. But I hate tighter cropped shots in general...
link to some of your sports photography work?
I love the photos. You have a great eye for the details, that's what makes your B/W work stand out.
One question about #4, what does it say under his hat?
Its a note from his mom. Gets kinda lost in the small size. Is there a way to post larger images from flickr?
Click "all sizes" above the photo, and you can go to larger/original filesize
Im such a flickr noob.
I posted them larger now. I dont know if you can read it but it says, 'Be an athlete. Just swing'
Random crap from several years ago
There are times when you want to shoot for negative space... if you are shooting for an art director or editor that has something in mind... or are intending the image to be used for print with lots of copy in the layout..
