Sometime before the end of the year they havent given us a date yet.

I wish we were still going to Iraq because I really dont want to go have to rebuild fob's in the mountains

If by "free fire zones" you mean "kill everything in sight that isn't an American zone" then yes, they still exist.

Oh and your unit isn't officially on the patch chart yet...official notification will come out sometime this month. 2BCT will hopefully follow shortly later on in January.

meh i'd rather go to Iraq. A lot of people in our unit have 1-2 deployments there while theres only 8 people in our whole company left over from the last deployment to afghanistan

That's pretty much how 85% of my deployment has been. I love the ACE (our air element, not sure what the army calls it)... there's nothing better than being in a firefight and calling in air and no less than 3-4 minutes later two cobras come out of no where and decimate everything down below with hellfire's and huey's raining down with the minigun.

Hardest part of the deployment was when there were no Taliban left to kill and the civilians who left the city started moving back in. Life was easy when we didn't need PID and anything with 2 legs that moved was hostile. I've been in Afghanistan for about 7 or 8 months now and the first time I ever saw a civilian was about 8 weeks ago when all the civilians who originally left the city started moving back in. That's when shit got hard and we needed PID to engage and our ROE's got really gay.

We did, they're part of our ACE. I don't know if they're really huey's but that's what we call them because that's what they look like.

Isn't one of the alphabet agencies using Huey's in Afghanistan for poppy field eradication?

Last i heard, we weren't fucking with their poppies anymore. They seem to be much nicer when we leave their money making crops alone.

The Taliban has to fund their religious war some how. I guess Allah overlooks the fact that they are funding their Jihad through drug trafficing.
