I had a 2.5 yr old Macbook that starting having the flickering charger issue. In the past I had it serviced for the harddrive, top case, 2 logic boards, screen flickering problem, and the same flickering charging issue I have now. I wasn't mad about the problems because Apple fixed them under Applecare each time under applecare and I figured that the charging issue I was having now was because the 400+ cycles I had on my battery at this point. So I went to the store to see if they could do anything and the guy pulls up my history and is surprised with the all the issues. He talks to his manager and comes back and offers me a new MB in exchange for my current MB. I obviously accept and get to talking to the manager and he lets me upgrade to the Pro(with "student discount") for the difference in what I paid for mine when I purchased it. The difference came out to $650 and I went ahead and got it. I asked about my remainder of my Applecare warranty and they said to call Applecare to get it prorated. I called Applecare the next day and they told me it would be 3-4 weeks before you see the refund and it would be prorated for the remainder. A couple of days later I looked at my statements and to my surprise Apple refunded back the full amount I paid for my Applecare when I bought it. Apple, ftw! Cliffs: Macbook had numerous issues, Apple allowed to trade for current Macbook or pay difference for another model, traded up to a MBP for $650, got full refund on apple care.
