I'm guessing he's just transitioning or something. Someone post that pic of Nicholas Cage with his eye right up in some scope.

that scope burn is gonna suck

 

Regardless of what he's doing with it, his head is still waaaay too close for it to be effective.

 

I cant tell from the small pic, but it doesnt even look like his eye is open. I wonder if the photo was caught mid recoil of a shot and he is just in a weird position as he is absorbing the recoil after shooting from an unstable shooting position.

Looks like some kind of strange transition, but he is shooting a ACOG (which has no eye relief to speak of) so who knows.

 

way too close even with an acog (looks like a ta11 acog which has better relief than the 4x models)

 

He's using it to get an eyelash out of his eye.
