This wouldn't be a bad base to do 1 year unaccompanied
I hated my year in Korea, but I was up north at Camp Red Cloud in 2ID.
Osan fucking rocked! I was there from Dec 02 until Jan 04. I wish I could go back.
Time for some Galbi and Soon Dobu
Speaking of which, make sure you get a couple of suits made while you are there, much nicer and cheaper than what you will get in the US at a department store.
Green, Hazy Cloudy.....
Its monsoon season....so rain is fucking plentiful......
Ill post pics the next couple of days....
The wife is in my same unit....and shes here with me
And if I went here for 1 year....she would be right fighting to come with
Youll get no argument from me.....i spent 60 days at the shithole sembach
That's the only thing that makes Germany tolerable, leaving Germany whenever possible.
I have never met anyone who was stationed in Germany who didn't want to go back more than anything. Maybe you are being a barracks rat?
My Sister and Brother-in-Law got back from Germany a year or so ago. They loved the hell out of it. I've only been to Germany a couple of times on short TDY's but I never saw anything I didn't like.
Nope, I'm going to Switzerland for 4 days.
Don't get me wrong, I have fun on the weekends. But Sunday-Thursday I'm bored out of my fucking skull. I usually take classes just to have something to do. Living here has made me realize that the US is by far the best place in the world to live. Other countries are cool to visit but USA is still #1.
The billeting here is awesome....compared to sembach its a virtual palace.........
Ramstein were a bunch of assholes to boot......and what you said the only thing that made it tollerable was that you could travel....
My wife and I were TDY over there....we made a trip to http://www.maihof.de/ about three times.....bought about E250.00 of wine......and had a fucking blast
Wait - you're in the near of bigger cities like Kaiserslautern and you're visiting... Sembach? Or aren't you allowed to visit the cities and got the order to drive through all little towns in germany?
What the hell did you just say?
Heres a tip. In your next duty station, and you see a Korean guy, don't tell him any stories about your stay in Korea. I'll bet you a cajillion dollars that they've heard your story before.
That you're just too stupid to find the interesting places in germany?
So far the orient just hasnt thrilled me
Give me Germany any day
