Yup just got orders in, Going to the SSN 777, in Norfolk. It's one of the Virginia Class.
USS North Carolina
well...at least you're not gonna be one of them boomer fairies ;p
wow, i might even get a chance to go to design school, seeing as how my boat isn't even done being built and is scheduled for comming in 2007.
Anyone here in Norfolk?
I'm not in the military but I live right next to Norfolk in Va Beach.
stationed on the USS Monterey in norfolk. hey what pier are you guys at? i'm at pier 2. i'm probably right across from you...lol
I don't really know anything about where the ship is, but i'll be there in about 2 months. As far as I know, the ship isn't even done being built yet.
Mmmm....those VA class subs are positively BAD ASS. Nice to be stationed on basically a brand new boat, I was on a 20 year old Spruance Destroyer. Not a bad boat in her own right, and had been updated a few times (new turbines, vertical launch array, helo hangar, etc.) but you could tell it was aging. 27 layers of paint on everything, and impossible to get / keep clean.
Brand new hardware FTW.
P.S: I fucking hated Norfolk while I was in the Nav, but that's just me. Make sure you don't buy a car anywhere near a naval base....
"North Carolina (SSN 777) is being built by General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton, Conn., and Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, Virginia. The North Carolina is the fourth submarine of the Virginia class and is scheduled for christening in 2006 and commissioning in 2007."
So I just got a hardcopy of my orders today, and apparently my orders got switched and now i'm going on a boomer out of Bangor, WA. Fucking Detailers.
washington is cool if you like wilderness/outdoors stuff.
Then again, you're gonna be in a metal tube for a significant part of your orders.
OH NOES!!! you are going to be a boomer fairy
