Because I have done zero research into why they're calling a 1911 a 2011 so I'm uppity about it.

I'm assuming they've tossed some functionality in but reading about it isn't in the cards since I learned their pricing

It's a double-stack frame, hence the upgrade from 1911 to 2011 (and it's actually their trademark)

A 1911 and 2011 are different. 2011 is typically double stack, modular grip frame in two pieces vs a solid piece in a 1911. 2011 magazine catch, mainspring housing and trigger are different from a 1911 as well. The Staccato is literally the definition of a 2011.
