Are the Walther PPK and pre-Brady Sig good guns for newbies?
get a sig 226
get a Glock
/typical OT reponse
a sig is a good gun for anyone...what caliber you looking at?
.22s are good guns for noobs. Go to a range or a class and learn how to shoot (many ranges will give you a quick lesson). After that, its up to you. I would say the progression (this is what I did) should be .22 -> 9mm -> .45 (course, Im now shootnig .40 SW, so *shrug*
Sig mosquito would be good too
If the price is right sure, I had a ppk/s I got a hell of a deal on, was my first handgun, was ok but I wanted something better and sold it, what are you looking to spend? Check out glocks and XD's both can be found pretty inexpensivley, best bet is to handle them and see what feels best.
Depends on the mission. Range only, heavier Sigs are great. Carry, they get heavy. Sounds like you're comparing the 230 SIG to the PPK, if it's apples to apples. Both good guns, but we could use a bit more information on what you want them for..
one sec, lemme go get the caliber of the sig. its 9mm.
This would be for personal use. Range only. Price will probably be around 400.
Can anyone recommend a site to get some information from? I checked www.packing.org but it was not too helpful from my brief searches.
Crush, how noob are we talking about? no gun experience at all, or only a little bit of experience?
Skip the PPK they have a tiny front sight and .380 is made for women
If you want a SIG go to www.sigforum.com There are some good sellers there as well. Check out www.ordnanceoutsellers.com as well. They used to have a good supply of CPO's but I think he's about out of them now.
First Handgun, have fired a 22 rifle.
In a nutshell, basically no prior gun experience.
go with a cheap ruger .22 then. rifles =/= pistols
