being a deadlifting noob, they look like they're doing the same thing?
How exactly are you picking up dead weight off the ground in the hack squat?
This is what I was envisioning lol.
yeah, this 10x3 i'm gonna try out starting today... uhh it says to do deadlifts and hack squats on the same day... but they look like they do the same damn thing?
Barbell hack squats are for your quads
no, they're totally different. Deadlifts hit your posterior chain. Hack squats are basically all quads.

so in theory would I be able to hack squat the same amount of weight that I normally squat?
i do hacks on the smith
k good, cuz that didn't happen. in fact not anywhere close
goodmornings and hacksquats are two of the bigger exercises i haven't seen anyone do at my college gym yet. still waiting.
