Hi everyone,
I'm an undergraduate student at the University of Rochester, New York and am currently doing a project on intimate relationships as part of my thesis. It would be great if you could help me by completing my online survey, and inviting your partner to do the survey too if he or she is interested. Your participation is greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you in advance for your time!

I got to the pet name part and had to think.
I then got to the spacebar part and realized I was in this for the long haul.

On a side note, this survey might last longer than the relationship it's studying ;). (kidding)

I honestly didn't have the patience for the whole space bar part, i was talking on the phone doing some business, so i eventually just exited out.

I thought it was just going to be some questions.

Yeah I quit at the spacebar part. You need to explain what you're supposed to be doing before it starts all of a sudden.

Thanks for trying out the survey. I'm sorry if you found the task annoying and it may seem less directly relevant when you are completing it, but that task is actually part of a larger group of tasks that are designed to assess implicit (unspoken or even unconscious) attitudes. And this is one of the first studies to use such a task to assess attitudes toward romantic partners.

Once again, thank you for your time!

Hi there,

Actually we've collected data from about 1300 online participants, so you are not likely to be the first to do the survey. However, we have also received similar feedback from other participants who felt that they should be farther from the average since they answered some of the questions at one extreme. My guess is, you probably responded at higher/lower extremes to some of the items. But since the feedback is based on how you score compared to thousands of other respondents who have completed these same measures, it could be that having a few extreme scores is perfectly normal.

Hope that answered your question :)
