What was it like?
Lots of fairly decent actors in the cast I see.
FUBU's buddy Vic is in the lead role too.
I just checked my Netflix queue. Bastards.
I'll let you know in a few days.
Some of you may want to stab me, but I was kind of hoping some of the old actors from Robotech would reprise their roles for this new dub.
I liked the old voices of Rick, Roy, Lisa, Gloval, Max, Ben, and the Zentraedi. I guess it will sound like Fullmetal Alchmeist now.
I have, the SQ in 5.1 is amazing, i wish they could have remasterd the original audio into 5.1.
as far as the acting goes, it is bearable.
So I enjoyed Robotech's acting/casting, will I enjoy this?
Vids of ur av ?
There's tons of it in OTAH.
its on the disc...
i dont remember the voice acting from robotech, i just remember it was fun to watch, have not seen it since the 80s.
What should I be searching for to find the threads?
I have macross episodes 1-30? On tape way back when it was aired in the early 90's on a local channel. My cousin was a big fan and she taped them all, then bequeathed them to me. Hell the tapes even have the old coco puffs and fruit rollups commercials on'em and they're great to watch. I grew up with the voices that harmony gold had casted, so it'd be hard for me to make the switch I think. Although I have yet to hear the new voices. Only thing now is for me to find someway to transfer the tapes to dvd.
You can buy the Robotech dub on DVD...
This is true. My roommate has it. It's cheesy as hell by today's standards.
So has anyone seen it yet or not? I can't rent it anywhere around here.
i'd rather have the old dub (far superior)
i bought the adv gatchaman (g-force) and the new dub SUCKS..but all g-force uncut and in original jap =
My copy should be here by Wednesday.
Alright. After going through the NEW English Dub it's not as bad as I thought it'd be.
The video transfer is sharper than the version on the original Robotech: The Macross Saga DVD's. I wish I could have done a comparision with the Robotech: Remastered or Animeigo's Macross DVD's but I have neither at my disposal. It's perfect for the anime fan who's seen Robotech and want to see Macross pure and uncut.
The NEW Audio was remixed for Dolby Digital 6.0 and sounds absolutely wonderful on a decent Surround Sound system. Your subwoofer REALLY gets a workout during the battle scenes, although some of the sound effects were changed for the final release (like the Valkyrie Gunpod FX).
The NEW English dub has its fair share of ups and downs. I was suprised to find out that Mari Iijima reprised her role as Lynn Minmay, IMHO her performance is just as good as it was twenty years ago, hearing her say Hikaru is just superb. There were others whose performance takes some getting used to, the voice actors for Misa Hayase and Roy Focker made me giggle. The way she pronounces MA-KRASS instead of MAH-KU-RO-SU absolutely kills it. They should have picked a voice actress with a slightly younger tone, and Roy's actor needs to lay off the cowboy accent. Hikaru, Gloval, Shammie, Claudia, and the Zentradi voice actors all give great performances.
The extras are decent enough but don't go looking for Seinfeldian commentary, deleted scenes, or bloopers.
GREAT interviews on the first disc.
God Mari is hot. I wonder if she's still single?
I wish they would have gotten the actor who played Roy in Robotech, he did an exceptional job. Actually Robotech had a good cast, shame their script was painful in spots and the Protoculture nonsense.
Anyone know where a guy can download this dub?
This is just the first 10 episodes. Dual audio.

I couldn't stand the dub so I just deleted it. Someone needs to rip Animego's dvds even though they're only subs.
