I'll have 1 320gig drive and a 1tb drive in my server. I'm looking to put in more space. I was wondering if smaller drives, 500gig > * would be more stable and reliable. Or does it just have to do with manufacturer.

I will not be doing raid. Just storage for right now. In 5 months I'll setup a raid configuration. I'm wondering if I should buy 2 500gig drives or a 1tb drive. I figure if I buy 2 500gig drives I half my chance for loss of my material.

What drives should I stay away from for this type of thing. I hear the WD green drives are decent even though they only have 8mb cache. How fast of a drive do I need for a server? (stream movies/ nightly backup)

If anything I would assume larger drives would be more stable simply because they use newer manufacturing processes...
