    there probably is an adapter that will make it work, but you'll be giving up autofocus, not that the lens had it to begin with, and possibly exposure differences.

    As far as the price for the body, its hard to say, look around and see what other used slr's are going for. B&H, KEH and your local shops will all have used slrs.

    A 300mm lens is a very specific lens, you won't be carting that around everywhere. Its good for sports, wildlife etc.

    A good thing to do would be to buy a canon 50mm F/1.8 II for about $70. Its a "normal" lens so it will decipt life as you see it, no magnification or compression.

    Sigma 28-80mm lens is nice for everyday use

    a 300mm lens is for sports and wildlife like Viper said.

    I would recomend getting a Canon EOS Rebel G2 35mm (or digital...) I have on and it is very nice for the price and is a good all around SLR
