I am mid process of asking for a WAMP environment at work for development. My OPs department does not know how to provide me with access to a virtual WAMP or even a segregated section on an existing WAMP server.

I remember seeing some software that allows for Apache, Mysql and Php to be set up for multiple environments and remotely administered via a web control panel, but, I cant remember if this was for Linux only?

Is XAMPP what you're thinking of? Did you just want that stack installed on your local machine instance?

Does it allow web admin of each evironment?
Im looking for something like CP or parallels for administrators, where our IT guy can give us our own CP login info and control our own environments?

No XAMPP is targetted at individual developer workstations.

Is Plesk what you're thinking of then? It's not free but it's well supported and popular.
