This is so incredibly absurd that it's hilarious.
When I left active duty in 1983, I saw the exact same thing. It used to piss the hell out of me when I'd see something like that and call the number and hear "Yes sir! Come on over and we can talk about how the U.S.Navy can help you!" Pretty quickly, I learned that any ad that guaranteed paid training was either a shitty sales job or a military recruiter's ad.
so i assume since they've been doing this since the 70's and continue to do it, it must work.

Once you see high school grads to 34, you know it's military.
yep, there are three such ads in the local paper here, but they dont say that you have to be under 34. they say PT/FT (how can you be part time in the military?)
same exact number though. I actually called one once, and got a stupid fucking recruiter.
