ART Hmmm... Worthwhile to trade an 85 1.8 for a 135 2.8?

:noes:

I feel like the 135 would severely struggle with my usage in low light...

What does OT think?

I feel like my 85mm comes up a bit short sometimes.. Should I trade it for a 135 2.8 or should I pick up a 2x TC.

Does tamron make a decent TC?

Sorry for the random ass questions, OT.

^^That is obvious sarcasm.

Although, I did only allow a 30 minute window for responses

Guess it depends...

What camera - can it "safely" go high ISO to compensate for a slower lens?

And also, how big do you need your final images to be? Because if you have enough megapickles you can easily just crop 85 to 135 equivalent if 85 isn't long enough. :dunno:

40D

And typically I'm shooting concerts now for a wire service, so I need as many megapickles as I can keep :o (especially with my body  )

I'd fuck 30 fat women for a 135 f2 :o

//edit - for some reason I was thinking this lens was more spendy than it is

It'll work terribly on your 85, and you will lose two stops of light, making it even slower than the 135 f/2.8 you were looking at. :hs:

135L is really the only solution for you. Or just crop more. I guess there is also the 100 f/2 but that is hardly longer than 85mm.

Yup

Teleconvertor costs you 2 stops and makes the AF worse... at that rate you might as well get a 70-300 4-5.6 or something

Honestly, I'd probably just crop more if you need tighter composition :o

Wouldn't two stops with a 85 1.8 put it at ~2.5? :dunno:

f/3.5 with pretty terrible off-center performance. :wiggle:
The only time I really need the longest zoom is for faggot ass drummers tucked away in the back.

I might return it, it does lose considerable light.. The AF isn't *too* horrible though (I'm used to a 17-50 tamron that has ADD)
