of DV can a 500GB Drive hold?
depends on compression?
Yes, This would be used to store DV til we got back to the studio to do the editting...
it's been awhile since i've done it
but i used up like 10 gigs of space on 20+ minutes of raw DV footage
[font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]DV bitrate is about 25 Mbps, so thats about 333.3 minutes of DV video in 1/2 a terabyte? think my maths is right.
500GB of harddrive after it is formatted, will give you about 465GB of storage space.
I am not sure if DV is at 25Mbps bit rate, but if that sounds about right to me.
Then in that case it is about 3.125MBps. (1 Byte = 8 bits)
So, that is about 2543 mins of footage, or 42 hours...
Some how if I remember correctly, DV is actually about 5.5MB per second? If that is the case, then it will be about 24.5 hours worth of footage...
I am not expert in this aera, so if I m wrong, please point it out and I get to learn something as well.
Researching digital camcorders for the first time tonight for a friend and read that 1 hour of DV is about 13gb's.
450(conservative)/13 = 35 hours of video
Thanks for the information.....
