fully extended. I couldn't find pics online
length wise? the same size. it doesnt extend at all externally. it's all internal.
didn't know that
yeah its pretty amazing. i suggest it if you are looking into it
Yeah what he says, it don moof
The 70-200 f/2.8 is a BAD ASS lens. IMO, Nikon's best zoom lens offered at any price. It's HEAVY, though. Something like 3 pounds. Carried over 6-8 hours a day, it's a work out.
go lift weights
My friend's BIGMA goes from 2 feet to like 3 feet.
It's funny when you use your 70-200 for a while then switch to a smaller lens, it feels like OMG my camera is soooo light now!!
The thing that makes the 70-200 heavy isn't the fact that it only weigh's 3 lbs. If you hold a 3lb stick in the middle it isn't too bad, but if you hold the 3lb stick at an end and keep it level, that's where it gets heavy. I don't know how better to explain it.
Yeah a 20lb plate isnt that heavy to hold. But holding it perfectly still to take a picture for 3 hours sure does get TIRING.
well, if you want to get technical, you are actually sticking the weight closer to the middle of the lens than the end
Yeah because my set-up weighs 20 lbs.
ok here's a great example.
A broom weigh's about 3 lbs. If you hold the broom at the middle it weighs almost nothing. but..... If you hold the broom horizontally by the tip of the handle... you can feel the weight...
I'm no scientist but I know that the longer the weight is the heavier it is. so if the broom and the 70-200 were the same weight the broom would be heavier but at least you will get an idea wtf I'm talking about. I suck at explaining things.
It's a fulcrum physics problem, really, with your hand as the fulcrum. Physics makes life.... phun.... ugh.
wow three whole pounds? Id better get on the juice
you need to get a new camera, they have these new ones and...get this....they take a picture in a SPLIT second!
No more holding your camera in the same place for 3 hrs waiting for the film to expose!
Ever take pictures of a birthday party? Or any event? Camera down time isn't much.
You use a 20 lb camera/lens set-up at parties/events?
You guys are mean, leave the poor 05 alone, maybe to him 3lbs is like 20lbs
Nikon d70 + 70-200 VR + sb-600 = not light
