how come whenever i reboot my macbook, trash or my hard drive pops up?

    started happening out of the blue a few weeks ago.

    also, what do the 4 boxes in the lower left corner of a finder window do?

    Finder opens for no reason for me as well. It's been doing that ever since I bought it a few weeks ago...

    maybe it's from some program i installed. in class right now, i'll post a screenshot in an hour

    yeah, that might be why. i have finder in my dock, when i goto hide it, it goes transparent, from the hack i did a few weeks back

    see the 4 boxes in the corner? they only show up when the option to sort icons (the one with 4 icons) is selected. when i click the list or the columns view, the 4 boxes disappear

    if you had a finder window open at shutdown/restart, i think it reopens them when you boot up... at least thats what i've noticed.
