Since no one has the dan wesson cbob in stock I'm looking at other 4" 1911's
Do you have a link to the model? Colt's model names are all fucking weird. According to Wikipedia they haven't made a model called the Commander since 1969. They made a model called the Lightweight Commander after that, and that model was an aluminum frame. Colt doesn't list anything called a Commander on their site now though.
That said, my dad had a Combat Commander, which was a model that was based on the Commander, but used all steel parts. He bought it new in the early 90's and opted for the stainless model because he intended to use it as a hiking gun. It was fine to shoot, but if you looked at it crooked it would start rusting.
Cliffs: do you have a link to the specific model? My dad's Combat Commander shot well, but was a rust nightmare, even in stainless steel.
sorry, its a 1991
i really want the dan wesson cbob. this is going to be a carry gun
I would definitely hold out for a CBob if it were me....
Colt never showed me anything special.
i absolutely love my 1991 commander
Bit of a long shot, but call Martin Retting here in Los Angeles. I was there a few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure I saw a CBOB sitting in the display case.
