And has it surpassed the value of all your gear?
lol, I think I'm getting close to the value of my XSi camera house
Yes. I'll have earned just over $30,000 this year with my part time business.
I've probably broke even with all my gear.
I made prob between 12-15k last year working weekends mostly, though I spent more thank 10k in gear. I viewed it as an investment though, cause this year it's gonna be about making money and not buying more gear.
In the negative actually
yeah i guess i am way in the red since i bought all this shit and havent used it for anything profitable
Grossed probably 82K this year (reporting this amount), not including random shoots that were paid in cash. I think total amount would be in the 100 range. But that includes my regular salary job shooting with SpyOnVegas.
Im so glad i bought a new house just before teh new year, because i know that when those 1099's come in, it will hurt.
You live the dream
Not sure exactly, but it was enough to pay for everything and then some.
i do my best to bust my ass, and take any and every job i can. But at teh same time, i know i will never excel in one category , but ill never starve and wonder when i will be getting my next paying gig. So its a compromise im willing to take.
"Work hard now, so you dont have to work hard later" is what i tell myself everyday.
its a hobby for me, so i'm in the red.
last year, not much. This year in the first 6 months, I have enough booked to cover all the gear I've bought.
I shot a friend of my wife's 40th birthday party for $250 and that's it.
It's moar like I pay to shoot people, cause I buy gear for the appropriate shoot
Since I bought my gear, I've payed it off through shooting. I just need more high paying shoots to pay for more gear.
I try to budget out, X amount of money for gear a month, right now its 250 for incidentals and gear, if i want something, than i have to save that money. If i "need" something for a shoot, then it goes into a different expense.
fuck I want to make 100k from photography. shit!
-20 in the first year, high startup costs.
then +5, and +18.
So its just slightly ahead of costs.
It's just a hobby for me too, I don't have any fancy expensive equipment, but I still managed to make a few bucks here and there.
