How much physical cash do you guys keep on hand?

Not talking coin collections or gold bars, but actual cash you would use in everyday transactions.

I've got around $1500 sitting in the safe for no real reason, other than "if shit hits the fan."

Not usually a lot. If I do a side job (fix a PC, detail a car, etc) or sell something I stick the money in my "motorcycle/scooter fund". Usually once it builds up to $1000 I buy another bike.

I prefer not to carry around physical money. I hate getting change, and then having loose coins in my pockets. Or if I have to break a large bill, no one is willing to do it unless I buy something that I really don't need.
